Rugby Canada and the Canada Sevens Organizing Committee announced today that the HSBC Canada Sevens tournament, hosted annually in Vancouver at BC Place, received the highest ranking on the 10-stop tour of the 2018 HSBC Men’s Sevens Series. In only its third year on the Series, the Vancouver tournament found itself the recipient of the Series’ annual “Tournament Award.”

Rankings are based on input from players and team managers from all 16 competing nations, and broken into 9 categories.  The Vancouver tournaments’ overall victory was the result of having the highest category score in five of the nine categories that span elements of player welfare, including travel, training facilities, liaison officers, and medical support.

“We are thrilled to have received this award, which is the result of a dedicated team working with strong and committed partners that are allowing us to deliver a world-class event year over year,” said Jamie Levchuk, Managing Director for Rugby Canada events.  “As we head into our fourth year of hosting, we’ll continue to push for the delivery of a world-leading experience for not only the players on the pitch, but also for the exceptional fans who have played a huge role in putting this tournament on the map, and making the Canada Sevens weekend an experience that simply can’t be missed.”
