-------------CANCELLED-------------

Sport Hosting Vancouver and BC Hockey are pleased to announce the inaugural Vancouver Minor Rec Hockey Classic. Over 1,800 participants in recreational hockey programs and their families are invited to participate in this one of a kind event March 24-29, 2020.

The tournament will see 90 recreational (non-carded) teams at the Atom, Pee Wee and Bantam divisions (30 per division) from across Western Canada. Each team is guaranteed five (5) games. The Vancouver Minor Rec Hockey Classic is open to male, female and co-ed teams at the Atom, Pee Wee divisions and male and co-ed teams at the Bantam level.

“The goal is to ensure this tournament isn't your average hockey tournament; we are working to create the ultimate Vancouver "experience" for all participants and their families,” said Michelle Collens, Senior Manager of Sport Hosting Vancouver at the City of Vancouver. “We want the kids and families to get out of the arenas and hotels when they are not playing to enjoy the many sights and activities Vancouver has to offer.”

Sport Hosting Vancouver partners are working to leverage the event and ensure it is a once in a lifetime experience. All participants will have access to experience the best of Vancouver during spring break while they are in town.

The desire for this event was born out of a legacy for the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships – which took place in Vancouver and Victoria (December 26, 2018 – January 6, 2019) – where Sport Hosting Vancouver worked closely with BC Hockey to ensure legacy opportunities for the youth in and around Vancouver were created and sustained.

Registration is set to open September 2019.
